Since my pond is 95 miles from home I needed to have a fish fix here so I put a cheap mini pond in the backyard. Dug a 6x10 hole 30 inches deep, put in 3 layers of 6 mil plastic and put an old pool liner over that(I never throw anything away). I built a biological filter similar to the one on this website http://www.skippysstuff.com/biofiltr.htm and put in some garland attached to pvc pipe. It's about 800 gal. and the pump is pumping more than 400GPH. The first week after filling the pond the water got murkey but it cleared the second week after the bacteria in the filter started doing it's job, then I added the fish. The fish were from my 35 gallon indoor tank, 6PS's & 2 GSH, they seem happy with it, and I'll probably add more GSH from my big pond. The one PS is guarding his nest and chases everyone else away.

Cool use of leftovers AP! Any female PS looking interested in the male's nest?

I'm not sure, it would be so much easier if they would just wear skirts and pants. (I guess that's a sexist statement)

I like the pond AP. If the PS pull of a spawn your gonna have lots of babies! Those pics are great. Keep us updated on your progress. I keep talking myself into building a backyard pond of my own. Perhaps next year I'll break in and build it.
