i need advice on which chemical would work best to rid my water lilies and other floating weeds I have used sonar in the distant past. I am considering Avocet this year. I have a 5 acre pond in the northeast that has not been well cared for in years. I would like to clear it from weeds and than set out to restore the total enviroment. pls help with any advice

Pondmom,
Try using a product called Touchdown Pro. It's an aquatic approved glyphosate that has a non-ionic surfactant in the mix. I've killed many a lily, lotus, cattail and primrose with this product. It's a systemic herbicide so it will kill to the root.

If the pond is in CT then you will have additional challenges. CT is one of 6 states that require you to not only have a permit but also a pesticide license to purchase any herbicide or algaecides. Your best bet is to use an applicator so they can get the chemicals for you and help you with the permitting process. I personally like the use of Sonar AS because there is not a lot of labor, however you can get a great systemic kill with Renovate + Cide-kick. Good luck.
