I have two questions. First off I picked a bag of bentonite up at my local feed store today and want to make sure it is what I need.Going to try the sprinkle method.I know it is a long shot but I can see the seepage at the toe of the dam and water on the ground right behind the toe of the dam so am planning on sprinkling about 15 bags in the water opposite of where the visual water seepage is.The bentonite I picked up has on the bag:Volclay, Feed grade #50. I am wanting the granular but thats all it has on the bag and cant find anything out online either.Does anyone here have any idea if this is the stuff I need?
Next question is this. Has anyone here ever had success or know of anyone having success stopping or drastically slowing down a leaky pond doing the sprinkle method with bentonite or is this just a total waist of time and money?

I've never seen any report of success with the sprinkle method. Many have tried. All efforts appear to be a waste of money. Bentonite should be tilled into the earth then compacted during construction.

Seems like I saw one post where someone was able to fix a leak using the sprinkle method. I couldn't locate the post. Maybe they will chime in.

Don't remember if this is the original post that I saw but it does note a success. Take a look:

I'm sure the failed attempts with the sprinkle method far out weigh the successes.

I got a hold of the volclay rep and he said the #50 was not what I want for the sprinkle way of spreading the bentonite.I need the cc8which he called crumbles. Its bigger pieces than the #50 I have. I have also been reading about pond doctors DB-100. Anyone here tried this or had any success with it for sealing a pond?
