the small stream that feeds my pond comes under the road right before entering my pond. there is a storm drain about 50ft up from the beginning of my pond. i thought about putting the granule fertilizer into the small stream by pouring it into the storm drain. i thought that might be a good way of getting it dissolved. the water is always moving in that area..what do yall think?

scott the water soulbe fertilizer is best method b/c it dissolved instantly. The granular might work that way but overall the granular has to be applied at a rte of 40 lbs/acre and for sure can not touch pond bottom. I would monitor visibility via secchi disc and see if it is working.

are you talking about liquid fertilizer? i was at my cousins pond that i had told you about last week when SEP came to lime it and they brought him some fertilizer in a bag. i read on the bad that no platform needed and it dissolved instantly.. that is new to me. also he said that it last a long time. only needs a few pounds per acre. was pretty cheap, maybe $15 a bag???

i am supposed to get my tilapia this coming week from your guys.

UPDATE!!!!! i put the fertilizer in the moving water earlier this week (tuesday i think) checked it with a disk and it was clear to about 22-24"..we had had a lot of cloudy days and rain on and off this week. about 1" yesterday and a little today. the sun did pop out a little earlier this morning, back to raining again..to my point, i just checked with the disk and water is too green.. about 8-10" visibility when checking of the end of the dock, but almost 18" near the shore.. why is there so much difference from the end of the dock to the bank? only 10ft or so long dock. clarity is the same off the end of both docks.. water just seems to be much clearer near the banks.. is it becaus of the way the fertilizer is making its way thru the water from the incoming stream?
what is best way to check with the disk? bright sunny day or does it matter?

i checked with the pool strips and seems that ph is in the 7 range and total alkalinity is 80-100 ppm

scott not sure what you are using. The water soluble is the same as what I told you about back this late winter. Not sure what you have but it is not $15/bag I promise. It needs to be applied across the pond not the creek. If indeed the "good stuff" how much did you apply, you may need only 2-4 lbs/acre in your good alkalinity water.

here is the link to the fertilizer that south east pond mngt brought to my cousins pond. is says water soluble..i think they said it was $15 a bag..

i havent used it yet. the stuff i used was 20-20-5 granule and put it in the incoming stream..

sun/clouds makes a huge difference in seeing the secchi disk i have discovered in the last 2 days...

Ok so you got good results with granular. Yes Scott this is same as what we sell. It is not $15/bag I was told they now retail for $60 but this was late winter. If $15/bag I woudl buy every bag they made.

i am not sure about the price at all. the guy from SEP told me that what it cost. he was the guy that came to do the liming for my friend. he might not know, not sure if he is up on pricing or just the lime barge guy... i have been paying $15 for the 20-20-5 granule. i figured the good stuff from SEP would be way higher also. he told me how many tons they had in stock at the auburn location, cant remember but it was a bunch.

Yes they are the big fish and control pond fertilizer pricing, etc due to the volume they have. Just keep in mind it is not at all like the granular instead of 40 lbs/acre with this it is 4 lbs/acre on avg. You do not want to overfertilize with the 10-52-4
