No complaining but I'm observing this spring has has some peculiar weather patterns so far vs. any past ones I can remember.
1.) Colder than normal
2.) Sudden warm weather accompanied by high winds for four days straight with the last day today predicted to have gusts to 45 mph. I can remember strong frontal winds or pressure gradient winds but for four days straight?
3.) Black flies or some kind of biting flies up the Ying Yang. Never had a problem with with them here before.
Anyone else observing it's been a odd spring where you live?

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil:
I've the same conditions (and bugs) as you. This wind sure wears on a person when they're trying to get stuff done outside! I really want to get the grass seed down before the rain comes, but it'll end up in the neighbors with all this wind.
I really dislike this warm weather in the Spring, followed by a cold front - it'll bring MUCH stronger winds! I was 1/8 mile away from the Palm Sunday Tornado that went thru Northern Indiana and ended up in Michigan years ago, and it was warm then as well.

I'm with you. I finally treated 20 some crayfish holes with Orthene powder last evening once the wind died down temporarily. I see I missed three today but I'll get 'em later. Just like your grass seed if I tried to drop the powder in the hole in this wind it wouldn't make it down in this wind!
45 mph today. Yee Haw!

We've been hit with a huge invasion of red wasps. They are everywhere around the house, deck, pole barns, garages, and dock. I've sprayed and used attractant and a flyswatter. Each day when the sun gets up they seem to multiply.

Maybe it's petulance and plague time. Whoops! I didn't mean to sound insensitive.

The ups and downs in temp have really made the morel season interesting. I am just finally finding them in NW Missouri now. Yesterday I hit the jackpot in about a 20 square foot area though. There were about 4 pounds of yellows tightly packed in this little spot. I was worried we wouldn't have much of a season this year, but we lucked out with a few good warm and wet nights that spurred them on.
12 ac pond in NW Missouri. 28' max depth at full pool. Fish Present: LMB, BG, RES, YP, CC, WB, HSB, WE, BCP, WCP, GSH.

Very cold spring so far except for the last couple of days when we were into the 90's! One thing I hate about VA, it seems to jump from winter to summer with hardly any spring in between...

Forcast for tomorrow morning is 22 degrees, the pond temp. at 5ft. hasn't gotten above 52 yet. The trout seem to like it.

... Freeze warning in effect from 4 am to 9 am EDT Monday...
High pressure will build across the Appalachians tonight. The combination of mostly clear skies... light winds and dry air will allow temperatures to drop into the lower 30s early Monday morning.
Temperatures in the lower 30s are possible again overnight Monday into early Tuesday morning.

This year in WA is a bit normal compared to last year. Last year we were still getting snow around this time. LMB weren't on beds until July due to the inconsistencies in the weather

Anyone else observing it's been a odd spring where you live? I'm with you Cecil this weather has been weird. Every time it warms up for a couple of days we get a cold front. Of course the cold front comes on the weekend and the nice days are on the week days. Those bugs your talking about might be Buffalo Gnats. One of my coworkers was complaining about them. He lives by the IL river and he said they are horrible. He had the swolen eye to prove it too.
