I’m tinkering with an old Native Feeder that has been discontinued by Native Outdoors .
Label inside cover ID as a Kenco “Straight Shooter”.
Has 2 six volt batteries but checking Straight Shooter web site – same timer states – “Operates on economical 6v or powerful 12v battery source”.

Dumb question (I know – no ?’s are dumb) about wiring?
Green wire with red clip on one end and black on the other, connected one battery to the other.

Black wire/clip from one battery and red wires/clip from other battery to small circuit board.
Black and red wires from circuit board to motor.

What is voltage to motor?

George, I have one of those, too, which got drowned. The 2 lantern batteries are wired in series, so the motor and timer run on 12VDC. You can put a 12 volt gelcell battery inside instead, and if you want, a solar panel. I liked that thing, but the timer is water logged. I still may bring it back from the dead.
Just do away with the jumper wire between the batteries and hook up the 12v.

Thanks Burger, knew you would come thru on this one - thanks.
Been a good little feeder and fixing it up for someone that needs it.
Repacing the worn impeller.
Betcha can get your's back in service.

George:

If you need any impellers, let me know. I had one for a while and the raccoons were able to get their mitts inside the slot and tear up the impeller. I think I have 1/2 dz. extra laying around here somewhere.

I switched to the AP75 and the problem was solved

PM sent - thanks much...!

I solved the coon problem by hanging feeder on "shepherd hook" plant hanger wired to a T-Post.

Hey Burger, if you decide to revive your feeder and need an impeller or so, give me a shout. Esshup sent me a lifetime supply..

Thanks Scott, impellers received in mail today.
If anyone needs impeller for Native Feeder or Straight Shooter let me know.

As noted above, you can “coon proof” a hanging feeder on a “shepherd hook” plant hanger wired to a T-Post.

Burger, send your mail address.
Scott sent me a sack of those things – I’ll keep a couple, keep what you need, and pass them on.

Good little feeder, especially for “grow-out” ponds or maybe even cages?
Don’t need it anymore since phasing out grow-out pond and TH and AP feeders doing good job.

They don’t know it yet but I’m giving it to Frank and/or Chris and if they don’t need it, they can pass it on.

Thanks Tom, Burger solved my problem by advice to remove jumper wire.

Burger’s feeder impellers are in the mail, and my repaired/donated feeder to Chris will be on its way this afternoon.

Thanks go to Scott (esshup) for the sackfull he sent me, and Chris will now have the surplus impellers if/when any other needs arise.

Thanks again Scott

Glad that I could help. Currently I'm not using that feeder, but I kept 2 impellers for back-ups. There was no way that I could use that many impellers!
