I don't really remember turning 50. But, that is one of the greatest perqs of being in official AARP geezerdom. I can enjoy the same old episodes of the Red Green Show, over and over, without ever getting bored. Starting at about 50, you only need to remember just a few jokes. Your friends don't remember your bad jokes either. Best of all, your secrets are safe with your friends -- they won't remember them either.

When you are out shopping, beautiful young ladies smile and are always very kind. Then you realize that you remind them of their grandparents.

Best of all, there are few things left to learn the hard way.

This is one of the best investments you can possibly make. $3.99 Cordless Trimmer

And, at this age, look at it as a tool that will probably last the rest of your life. I've had mine for over a year, and the original battery is still good -- even with all the use it gets.

At fifty you’ve accumulated the knowledge and wisdom of half a century. This would be a tremendous asset if only senility hadn’t wiped your memory bank.

I'm sure that I stole that from someone, but for some reason I can't remember who or when.

They become confused and grow out of both ends of the follicle.

After age 50 people will believe pretty much anything you say as long as you speak with authority. If they don’t believe you they will write it off to you being confused. Either way they will nod approvingly.

At 50 due to forgetfulness some people start growing facial hair (ears , nose and face not to mention back of the neck and exposed chest hair) to make up for the lack of hair on top. They just knew they were supposed to comb something.

Sue, you and me, baby. 40 in July '09. 50 is just...well...around the corner I suppose.

I wonder if when a dork turns 50 if it's any different?

if one is observant, those things we fear from growing old (i.e. the decay process) starts many years before 50.

almost as if its following you:

as you get close to 50 you do strange things in an effort to keep yer youth:

but take heart, you may not be able to turn those young heads again:

but you can still turn some heads:

as the country changes:

stay prepared:

but also relax and have fun while taking yer medicine:

eat well:

dont hide in the shadows:

but embrace life (and those nasty procedures):

because before you know it the life that was yers:

will be all over before you know it:

live strong and w/ purpose, so that you shall be enshrined forever to those loved ones who survive and remember you fondly:

happy birthday to a class act who shall remain nameless, but is turning 50...he he he..

Really,
50 is better for a guy than a girl, like having a scar, you know. And with all the medications available today, who knows, just have to travel with your medicine cabinet - but the senior discounts make up for some of it!

In the last three weeks I've been told the following things.

1. Do you have anything planned for your 50th birthday?

2. If you retire in 18 years, that will make you like, seventy!

3. Are you over or under fifty? Definitely over!

4. You look just like your Dad did ten years ago! (My Dad is 66)

to the funnies with DIEDs anonymous BD celebration. One of the all time best, my friend.

After 50, you can quit buying newspapers. Since you don't remember what you've read, it's all fresh news to you.

When you're sitting in a bar and some little thing that looks like a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader walks in, you really feel your age. She scans the room and doesn't slow down when she comes to you.

Your Grandkids start asking you questions about the old days. But they don't believe what you say because you tell them about having to walk to school 10 miles through the snow. Both ways were uphill.

You drive your pickup a little closer to where you will be working on something.

You become a little bit more accepting about brush along a treeline.

When you see a really big old buck, you let him walk instead of putting him on the wall. You admit that you really never liked venison that much anyway.

You wonder why anyone would put a cap on backwards. Doesn't that punk know that the bill is to shade your eyes instead of the back of your neck?

The only really good tradeoff is Grandkids.

A pound seems to have become more than 16 ounces.

You start wondering just why you bought all of those guns.

You start wearing caps without the top aeration holes. A sunburnt bald spot is painful.

A finger wave is no longer a good reason to poke someone in the nose.

BTW Theo, Happy Birthday. Have you and Ronda discussed Underalls for Him?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THEO:

It is great to be alive, and to be you! When you think about it, the way me measure time in one year units, it really is a short amount of time, each year. When I think of all the people I have known and lost to death at much younger ages, 27, 39, etc., I just try and embrace and be grateful for every single day. I used to not like the notion of getting old, now I am thankful for the opportunity. Every day truly is a gift. Have a great one!
