Great find Rob. Man its getting hard to find new material and write about as you guys find it and post.

From http://www.pondboss.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=150533&fpart=1

We conducted a long-term selection experiment to assess the

heritability of vulnerability to angling in largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides.

Eric, I look forward to seeing that in the mag. You posted something like that after the first PB get together at D/FW in the archives but I'm not finding it. I'll happily wait for the mag results.

Thanks Dave. I do not want to under cut the Mag.

Yes there was a study done by Gary Garrett of TPWD that is related to the new one and its findings are included in the new study along with a bunch of additional studies on everything from BG , trout , CC all the way to birds. I will find the old thread for you here.

Interesting stuff. Now everyone is gonna want some offspring from the High Vulnerability Large Mouth Bass parents. We're gonna need a new acronym. Lets see the bass are more vunerable, that means they are stupid. I've got it. We'll call them Large Mouth Moron Bass or LMMB for short.

All kidding aside that is a very interesting and unique study. The controls placed on the lake and the recording off all of the catch, then draining the lake and recounting, wow. Quite unique.

Creating a catchable population of LMB is very desirable, but not very practical to single pond owners. Draining your pond to remove the shy LMB could be a real deal killer.

I think something like this is a job for Bruce Condello... If he can breed insanely fast growing obese bluegill through selective breeding, I am sure he could also grow largemouth bass who are especially aggressive through selective breeding as well.
