The cherry blossoms are just starting to bloom. This is one of the most popular spots to view them. I will have pictures next week when they are more in bloom

They are at their peak along the Tidal Basin in Washington DC as well. The Japanese gave them to America back in the early 1900's.

That's hilarious! Some things just transcend language barriers...

I think the sign says "don't feed chocolate soft-serve ice cream to your puppies here."

Any idea what they are growing out in them? The Japanese have some of the leading technology for aquaculture, particularly saltwater aquaculture...

CJB not sure what they are raising but will attempt to find out. There are so many kinds of fish in the grocery stores here I can't believe it.

The following pictures are from a family gathering we were invited to. The location was spectacular underneath the cherry trees in the middle of an orange orchard. The walk up to it was about 400 yards and damn near killed me. Dwight, we do try to speak a few words in Japanese, mostly greeting stuff. Our son lives here and speaks fluent Japanese so we have an interpreter, which helps us a lot. Check out the cute little girl, she is a doll. Japanese families are like all other, they like to have fun with family and friends. We felt fortunate to be invited. Can anyone guess what the kids are holding?

The boy looks like he is holding a ready to eat water turkey. What is the girl holding; the other end?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Water turkey backside has to be a delicacy somewhere.

This is a Shogun's castle that was in the city of Kochi. It was built in 1610 and made out of wood. The floors and the wood supports are the original which is amazing. The upper floors were made for defense, including pouring hot oil on their adversaries. It was gorgeous.
