If I wanted a tank to be 4K gallons, and two feet deep, how would I calculate the Length X Width?

Volume=Length x width x height...
A US gallon is 0.133680555 cubic feet.
So 4000 gallons x 0.133680555 = 534.7
So in your case L x W x 2 = 534.7...
Up to you what you want L and W to be.
For example: W=10
L x 10 x 2 = 534.7
L x 20 =534.7
L = 534.7/20
L = 26.735
So, a tank 26.735' x 10' x 2' = 4000 gallons
Or I could be showing that I only got a C+ in college calculus and that was 10 years ago and I have no clue what the heck I am talking about!

There is ~7.5 gal water in a cubic ft so you want about 533 cu ft of water. Divide that by 2 ft deep and you want you length and width when multiplied together to equal about 266.
14x19, 16.3x16.3, 13.3x20, 22x12 would all get you close. Those are some big tanks!

Sounds like I'd better go 2.5 feet deep!

So double check my math, please.
If the tank were 40 feet long, by 5 feet wide, by 2.5 feet deep it would be how many gallons?

Something so cool, that it is beyong the imagination of most ordinary men.
It will rival the space shuttle in it's complexity.
