ihunt, I have a small aerator so I kept it simple, I used a Rubbermaid container and cut a large hole on each side and covered it with furnace filter material so it would have air flow, worked fine. I also put a larger piece of plywood on top for rain protection. For the winter i covered the container with a larger container to protect it from the heavy snow.

It's made to hold a fridge and fishing tackle as well.

Don't underestimate the difficulty of cutting a square hole in a rubbermaid container.

Typically a compressor needs very good ventilation. The second most damaging factor for compressors is heat and overheating. Be sure the shelter is well ventilated, but does not allow in rain/snow. I encourage do-it-yourselfers that are building small compressor shelters to: 1. have some sort of ventilation or openings on the bottom so cooler air moves in through the bottom cools the compressor and then the heated air moves up and out a vent near the lid or top (usu. on the upper sides). Lay screening of some sort to keep bugs and critters out of the shelter or "box". 2. With vents on the bottom, the "box" should be up on blocks or maybe bricks so air can flow in the bottom of the box. 3.. Have vents near the top to exhaust heated air (see #1). For side vents I use simple metal house foundation or siding vents (screened on one side) that are louvered so air can get in and they shed rain & snow. I have numerous pictures of different styles that I can email you examples if you request them. Plastic dog houses work pretty good. Don't forget to add some vents. A plastic barrel with a portion of the side cut out and set over the compressor works with vents on the ends. Mount on a board with screened openings on the bottom. Hold together with tarp straps or bungie cords.

Small boxer- or squirrel cage-type blowers can be bought (for much less than your compressor) to force cooling air through a small enclosure or to direct cooling air flow onto the compressor in a large enclosure. They would probably not be needed during Winter month aeration.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

An Igloo type cooler works well for a compressor housing. Turn it upside down, use lid for base, Drill round 6 inch holes for vent screens from home improvement store, as well as a couple of rectangular screens as Cody mentions above, and you are good to go.
Insulated against the outside heat with air flow through screens. Has worked for me for at least 6 years with no compressor failure.
Idea originally from Cody - I believe he has photo. Thanx Bill.
