I am looking for some suggestions and suppliers for a DIY aeration setup on an 1 1/2 acre pond. The pond is almost a perfect rectangle and at the deepest part it is 16ft with an average depth I would say of 8ft. I have put mainly CC and BC in the pond with Hybrid blue gill and 50 Hybrid Stripers. I am going to place the pump about 20ft from the water up on the bank in a box. If any other information is needed let me know.

I just got a great deal on pumps and this guy "Josh" has a bunch of them contact him and tell him Dustin sent you. I couldn't find a better deal anywhere else and he doesn't charge an arm and a leg for shipping. ImpactBiomedical http://www.impactbiomedical.com/compressors.html

the experts are right, call Ted Lea, he will fix you up with a working system at the right price. Remember, aeration is like anything else, you get what you pay for. I have run one of Ted's recommended systems since May 2005 without the first second of trouble from it.

I'm a big supporter of DIY just because it not only saves money but it's fun. You can always get the design info you need from many sources and then buy the components separately to build your own. I sized my system using data from aquatic ecosystems and then bought the aerator from them, the pump from an industrial supplier, and all the rest of the hardware from local Home Depot. Got a fiberglass enclosure in a surplus store. So if you have the time and not the money, this is a good way to go.
Gotta get back to fishin!

Hello Shark and welcome to Pond Boss. You mentioned that you are pumping water into your pond. When it enters the pond is the entrance pipe above the surface or below the surface? Does it have any type of spray attachment on it. What I'm trying to get at is does the water coming into the pond disburb the surface much? My guess is that pumping water won't help clear a muddy pond and depending upon where the water is pumped in, it could actually make it muddier. Let's get an expert opinion.
Bump.
