Dear All,

Greetings to all, I am new to this forum. I am designing a aquaculture system under RAS for my client. I need to know the design guidelines for providing amount of aeration and what capacity of air compressor under what psi is required. Please, experts from this forum guide me.

My querry is what should be the amount of aeration required, what type of diffusers to be used, what should be the size of air compressor to generate aeration in the culture tanks. For example- the biomass is 60 kg per cubic meter, water flow rate 700 lts per minute, culture tank volume 20000lts, feed rate is 70 kg per day with 35% protein. I need to know if there is any standard formula to calculate the required parameters, if the variables are changed.

Any help in this regards is highly appreciated and regarded.

Thanking you all.

Sridhara,

Welcome to Pond Boss. Great information to aid in sizing an aeration system for an aquaculture set up. One more piece of information please, what species of fish will be raised? Are they warm water or cold water fish? Temp plays a roll as well when sizing a system.

Using this information combined with what you have already supplied, we can caluclate the actual biochemical oxygen demand of the species of fish. Then, knowing what the standard oxygen transfer rate of a particular diffuser or surface aeration unit, we can meet that biochemical oxygen demand.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss further.

Again, welcome to Pond Boss and please don't stop just for this topic. There is a wealth of information on this site and even if you just absorb it and not participate, you will not be sorry.

Sridhara,

Whatever supplier you obtain information from, hopefully from the sponsors on the resource tab at the top left-hand corner, please come back and update us on the results. This is the only way we can keep this forum going. With that I mean everyone learns from everyone's questions and comments.

Too many times I feel that the personal message option is used and then the original thread was left without any answers. Just my two cents.
