I had to drain a 1/2 acre pond to fix a drain. It has filled back up and I'm moving bream, bluegill, and catfish back into it. So far just fishing we have about 110 fish in it now from our bigger ponds. Should I transplant plants over from the larger ponds to this one or leave it be?

JR, what are your management goals for the pond?

I guess my real question is do I need plants in there to help support the fish or just let it go and await nature to plant it.

I'm no expert but you're going to need some structure in order to get the fish successfully reproduce. Without places for the fry and YOY to hide they are going to get wiped out by predators. Theo's asking about your management goals in order to give you more specific advice.

The management goals of your pond are critical to give you the proper advise. There are different goals that pond owners may have, big bass, big sunfish, an even balance... When we know what you want, we can help you get it.

I toss some brush in for YOY to hide in.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
