"Bluegill are a Big Deal" was written by Bob Lusk on the following website.

http://www.bigbluegill.com

If you are a member of big bluegill, this would be a good time for some intelligent discussion on big bluegills and ponds, with subtle, but noticable plugs for Pond Boss forums.

From what I understand, "In-Fisherman magazine", with a very solid readership is appearing in mailboxes today, and on newsstands over the next week.

New people will be reading Mr. Lusk's blog, and can be directed over to Pond Boss so we can hopefully pick up a few subscribers, and more importantly some good visibility for the forum, and all the good things that Pond Boss stands for! \:\) \:\) \:\)

Go through "Yahoo" search and just keyword "bluegill".

My computer mentions Pond Boss in the Big Bluegill description that's in the number 3 slot. If everybody sees that, than I think we're accomplishing just what we set out to do.

For whatever reason, Google puts us in the #15 position.

In a word....

Not really.

;\)

Five years in your neck, and eight years up here, combined with perfect management, great genetics and luck, you can get a true two-pounder.

Some people luck into it, but not many.

I'm just now beginning to appeciate how much great water quality plays into the equation. I actually think that great water quality supercedes genetics when it comes to the two-pound-bluegill hierarchy.

Managment is still number one.

God bless Lusk and all he does. He's educated more people than any one person in the history of pond management.

"Recycled Fish" is a big-time fishing and outdoor stewardship site, and they're now directing traffic to http://www.bigbluegill.com

http://recycledfish.org/home/?p=234

This may bring more people towards Pond Boss, which will hopefully yield a few more subscriptions at some point.

I worked with Chuck Beasley the art editor of IN-Fish, who's also a member of BB.

The website is just flooded with action right now. There were 300 new visitors yesterday, and many of them I'm sure are seeing Lusk, and his photo, and his story.

Bruce I was expecting more exposure (text) for BigBluegill in In-Fisherman. You only got a 1/4page blurb in the Popular Culture Notes & News. For an educational fishing journal (I-F), I expected more from them considering the educational value of BigBluegill and Pond Boss for informing about trophy class bluegills.

Bill, it could be that neither Bob nor Bruce are buying advertising.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Bill they don't put much text in that section . I agree that I thought there would be at least a few sentences.

Dave could be right.

I felt lucky to get any exposure at all, but I do think that both Pond Boss and Big Bluegill are offering information not available to the general public.

Similar to In-Fisherman.

I've had a 300% increase in site traffic in the last 48 hours, so it's evident that there's some interest. Hopefully I can deflect a lot of that over here when it comes to potential subscribers.

I thought they would credit the photos, but I looked at several past issues and they generally don't when it comes to such small pieces. It really didn't bother me, because the credit itself would have had far less value than the actual presence of these people on the site.

Bob doesn't have the analytic vehicle that I do to see where his website traffic is coming from, but I'll bet there are a few more eyes on this forum in the next few days.

As you guys mentioned even though the I-F text was brief, the exposure, credit and recognition was quite valuable. I guess it is up to the websites to hold the visitors and convince them to be members.

Somehow it's not surprising that both bluegills featured in the magazine were fish that Lusk managed. The guy is amazing. It's more than just Bob's knowledge...a lot of it is just the innate ability to reason on several different levels at once.

Here's my view: The fact that there is no additional verbage MAKES me WANT to go to the big bluegill site. Remember the old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words". I think that applies here. I'm glad you're getting record numbers of traffic. Great job, Bruce.

My Mom used to tell me that I was "unique." Took me until I was in my 40s to realize that it wasn't always a compliment.

Congratulations Bruce. Very cool magazine coverage.
