Why didn't I think of that? Debbie is doing quite well. She snapped at me four times this morning, a sure sign she's healing. Seriously, she's up and moving, walking around. I swear she's taller. And, she's standing straighter than I remember. She sends her best to all of you and thanks you all for the prayers. She continues to improve by the hour and will probably go home tomorrow. Will keep you posted.
p.s. no photos, yet. I wouldn't dare.

Well, we got the princess, er, queen, home late yesterday afternoon. She's still medicated, but is becoming more mobile by the minute. Her pain seems to be well managed and she is having to relenquish control of some of the fundamental facts of her past life, like picking things up, moving about as she wishes and bouncing around. Now, every movement is calculated and thoughtful. We are thankful for a great surgical team and post operative care team. She is walking straight and looking over her abode here at LL,2, making Christmas plans and giving a few orders. I act like I'm listening...don't tell her. She is pretty tough, although she wouldn't want anyone to know that. I must say, during this entire ordeal she has been mostly peaceful and calm. She went into calm and collected and swears she felt the results of all your prayers. She is the hub of our lives here and her kids and I are much more anxious than she is. Now, she's headed back to bed to rest and heal. Taylor and I are headed to a wood pile to cut some firewood. It's mid 60's here and a cold front is headed our way. Taylor gets to learn how to use a maul today.

Well, here she is, just days past major back surgery...my princess, 'er Queen...We just got home from a small Christmas party with our neighbors. Eleven days later and she is doing very well. Can't stoop, bend, squat or twist...she drops something and she kicks it into a "pile" for one of us to pick up later. I love that woman! Very proud of her...she's improving every moment of every day. The most amazing to me is that she is completely compliant with doctor's orders. That's amazing! She tends to row her own boat, but right now she understands the gravity of her choices. We went to her doctor yesterday, got new x-rays and saw all the new metal in her back. She's got more hardware in her back than our kitchen table. I counted nine screws and three plates. The bone grafts looked especially cool, from a biologist's point of view. She now stands straight and many people have commented about her countenance...her face looks "released." Here she is.... And, feeling a little foxy!

Here's an update on Debbie. She continues to progress quite well. The doctor told her early on "don't overdo it." So, she's mostly not over-done it. But, on those few days when she's done too much, it's pretty funny. At the end of the day, she has no idea why she is so tired and sore. Then, it hits her, like a hammer tapping on a little light in her head. "I overdid it today" she'll say. All incisions healed with no incident and her legs are getting stronger. She goes to physical therapy three times weekly. Thanks to all for the prayers. At the moment, she's sitting in front of a sewing machine, looking at it as though it is some foreign object. Debbie was raised by her grandparents and her grandmother was a seamstress. But, it doesn't look like any of that thread stuff rubbed off on her. Here she is, 50-something, jacking with this machine and reading the instruction book. Pretty cute.
