Been a while since I asked a question.. having other building dramas and rainy season slowed things down.. But I need to start gather things to add tot he pond once it is dug..I have 2 choices for "ROCK" here in Barbados either concrete or coral stone..which would the masters think would be the better of the 2??

Thanks

What is the "stone" for?

Price difference?

The Stuff will be used as edging and structure in the pond.. One the Concrete is free (cost to move) and the coral stone costs vary depending on where you get it.. My concern was the Calcium leaching out of the Coral and making the water extreamly hard. I will not have a constant water flow thru... Only during the peak rainy season will I have overflow.

From all I've read here, "hard" water is always better. I don't have any idea how high the PH of coral will go though. Concrete has a high amount of calciun too, IIRC.

Puzzled??? that really seems contradictory, everything I know about keeping aquatic plants and Fish.. they all want soft water that is unless your an African chichlid.. Grin Can you point me to the information that says hard water is better???
Yeah I know that Concrete has a high amount of calcium. I was just thinking that with the portland binder it would be less probable to become a dissolved solid. maybe I am wrong
Thanks

Here is a good article on the subject. I'm sure the resident expert, ewest, can provide much more accurate and technical info than I.

Anything for a Jayhawk, even though I studied with the Cowboys at OSU.----I and my middle daughter were born at KU Med center in KC.
