What is the advice of putting blue cats and channels together in a one acre. It holds 39 inch channel cats, about 6 and half pound. Only 5 or so may be left, I added 20 10inch blues , can I add more and what is suggested?

Blues are bit more 'sophisticated' than channel catfish. Blues are much more predatory, grow way bigger, but will eat pelleted fish food. They work fine together, until the blues grow large enough to eat your channel cat. Standing crop for catfish in a one acre pond can approach five to six hundred pounds safely, especially with aeration. So, if you intend to let the blues grow to thirty pounds each, you're already at your stocking limits, but if you expect to harvest a few, go ahead and stock some more.

What eles do you have in the pond? Like Mr. Lusk said, Do you plan on harvesting at 2 to 3 pounds or grow them out to behemouth size?
If you do plan on growing them to larg size. Do you have bream or bass for them to eat? shad?

I plan on growing them to 15- 25 ponds. I may harvest them once they reach 7 pounds. but only a few. It is full of greenies,I put 19 10-12 " bass and they are full, so they eat good, they should provide more forage along with the greenies, the bass must be eating the baby greenies , becaause they are fat. Adding copernose Bg would help, if I get the chance, But I can`t catch the cats , it is rare, sO I want to put in more. I put in 23 blue cats a year or two. I would like to add more cats, I may have lost some fish too , due to flooding and they get caught on the bank, I`ve seen a skelaton or two over the year. Sice it has grown 6 1/2 pound channels, I want to experment with how big a blue cat I can grow? So the question is how many can I put, and can or should I combine channels and Blue?????????

For you Blue Cat fans, the current episode of In-Fisherman is about the three largest fresh water predator fish in North America: 1) White Sturgeon; 2) Alligator Gar; 3) Blue Catfish.
They mention that they expect to see a Blue Cat in the 150 lb. range within in the next few years.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

If it's rare to catch the cats, but you're pretty sure they're in there, try fishing with live bait. I've used gills up to 5" and caught cats of only 4 lbs in my pond. Did it last summer...3 cats in 3 days, but that was jugfishing with a 20 oz Pepsi bottle. Was a BLAST! Have to cast out a rooster tail to snag the 30 lb drop line and play 'em w/out a net.
Can't wait til the water warms this spring. Gonna rod and reel w/gills! Done it for years in the rivers, and now know it works well in ponds, too.
BIL's pond has some monster cats and flats in it...can't wait!
