Would seining a pond & putting bluegill of unknown breeding into a new pond interfere with stocking the new pond next spring with 2"RES, CNBG, TFS? I also intend to stock this new pond with 2-3" LMB & HSB early next summer.Sorting the bluegill at time of seining isn't an option because I can't tell the difference between RES, CNBG, HBG, Sunfish. But learning to differentiate them is on my list of things to do..du

David, it all depends on your goals. When first stocking our new pond a number of years ago, we stocked native BG from a neighbor’s pond, bought fish from an Arkansas fish truck, and pure Florida CNBG from a Texas fish farm.
At that time we considered BG was only forage for LMB. As time changed I began to observe and appreciate the various strains of BG stocked.
I developed an appreciation for pure Florida CNBG stock and spent subsequent years removing all BG that did not meet my standard of personal choice.
If I was stocking a new pond based on what I have learned, I would stock ONLY pure Florida CNBG.

David, I wouldn't do it. You and your Wife have planned and worked pretty hard to build a beautiful place. I would do what George has said. You will find that the fish are probably the least expensive part of the pond experience.
BTW, like George, at one time I would have considered them only as forage.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
