just wondering if this would work out. meadowlark convinced me (or someone did) that hybrid is the best for me. but could catfish coexist with striper? thanks for the input. 1 acre pond

I had catfish with hybrids and the only problem was the catfish vacuumed the feed where the stripers hit one at a time. I had too many cats and they hogged too much feed so I recommend putting in the lowest number of cats you desire.

walboknls1,
I'm guessing they could (don't have any cats myself). The only person I know that has them both is George in north Texas. Hoping he will comment....interestingly, George is trying to get rid of his cats, I think, in part because he loves the HSB so much.
The cats might compete for the same artificial feed with the HSB...big cats might be able to outcompete for those pellets, but I would think if fish of about the same size, the HSB will hold their own around the feeders. They are so fast, about the fastest swimming fresh water fish I have ever seen.

walboknls1,I wouldn't think there would be a problem stocking CC with HSB as long as you carefully control the numbers stocked. Our problem was overstocking the catfish.
Pesonally I would go with adult CNBG and HSB. George Glazener

Finally!!! something intresting that I like!!...and not Bashing poor Deb for once!!
I am going to try to add Hybrid Striped Bass some time next year. The cats DO tend to hog the feeder when the feeder FIRST goes off, the Bream eat the feed but then cats DO come along and bowguard the WHOLE thing and the bream go away...

I am looking forward to adding HSB to my BG-RES-LMB-CC .9 acre pond, but feel I need to get my CC numbers (30-40 left averaging 4 lbs) down further first. I am optimistic about putting HSB in one year from now.
