It’s getting that time of year... a touch of fall is in the early morning air Hearing talk from sons about camp house work,, food plots and deer blinds. All the dozer work done last year should pay dividends this year. My job is to sit around the camp fire, tell stories and EAT,,,,

It's a little sad to see summer go but luckily deer season and football always cheer me up. I just can't believe the summer is almost over. I don't feel like I did eneough fishing this year (I feel this way no matter how much I get to fish).

I always look forward to fall here in NW PA, Steelhead season and Deer season, I fish a lot when it rains, hunt alot when we get north winds, that old chestnut. I hope all who enjoy natures bounty get plenty of it. I just sliced 7 lbs of venison for jerky this morning, it's marinating as I type this, should taste good tomorrow after it has been smoked.

This year in addition to way too many deer, we have a decently funded hunters donating deer to food pantries program in Ohio. This is the first time it has paid for processing; drop your tagged deer off at a participating processor and that's it.
I may just limit out with donations after I get "my" deer. Does beware.

What Theo doesn't realize is that it's a national organization called Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry(www.fhfh.org). If you hunt, but do not want to keep the meat, you can check out the processor nearest you that will take it, process it, and make sure it gets where it is needed. It may make me go outside of the house to hunt my deer this year.

My grandfather, dad, cousin, brother-in-law, and I are headed to deer camp this weekend for our annual Labor Day preparations. Fall can't get here soon enough...

I'm not sure if these lyrics may any sense if you aren't of Finnish decent, and you aren't from the frozen northland of the U.S., but here are the words to a famous song by some of my crazy Upper Michigan cousins: Second Week Of Deer Camp by: Da Yoopers
ITS THE SECOND WEEK OF DEER CAMP I GOT A SWOLLEN HEAD I'M LYING WITH THE DUST BALLS UNDERNEATH MY BED
AN ICY BREEZE IS BLOWING IN THROUGH THE TONGUE AND GROOVE MY PANTS ARE FROZEN TO THE FLOOR AND I'M TOO SICK TO MOVE
I DIDN'T DRINK TOO MANY ONLY THIRTY CANS OF BEER IT MUST HAVE BEEN THAT LAST SHOT THAT PUT ME UNDER HERE
CHORUS: IT'S THE SECOND WEEK OF DEER CAMP AND ALL THE GUYS ARE HERE WE DRINK PLAY CARDS AND SHOOT THE BULL BUT NEVER SHOOT NO DEER THE ONLY TIME WE LEAVE THE CAMP IS WHEN WE GO FOR BEER THE SECOND WEEK OF DEER CAMP IS THE GREATEST TIME OF YEAR
I REMEMBER PLAYING POKER THAT WEASEL MUSTA WON HE'S WEARING MY NEW SWAMPERS AND SLEEPING WITH MY GUN
HE'S SNORING LIKE A CHAIN SAW THE CAMP SMELLS LIKE A DUMP SOMEONE'S DIRTY UNDERWEAR IS HANGING ON THE PUMP
MUKKUS IN THE WOOD BOX EENERS PASSED OUT ON THE STOVE HIS FLANNEL SHIRT IS SMOKING I WONDER IF HE KNOWS
CHORUS
VITOS CRAWLING THROUGH THE DOOR I THINK HE GOT FROSTBITE HE PASSED OUT IN THE OUTHOUSE AND HE'S BEEN THERE SINCE LAST NIGHT
THEN GOOFUS STUMBLES THROUGH THE DOOR HE SAYS HE GOT A BUCK HE WAS COMING FROM THE WAYSIDE AND HE KILLED IT WITH HIS TRUCK
THEN MUUSTI CRACKS A BEER AND SAYS ITS TIME TO CELEBRATE GOOFUS GOT THE FIRST BUCK SINCE 1968
CHORUS

I figured you'd post about the "30 Yoopers in a pontoon boat fishing for Moby Dick, my wife thinks I'm working and my boss thinks I'm sick"
I don't know the rest of the lyrics, but that song is off their second album.
Sunil I could fix you up with some jerky, but my famous "Deer Bologna" doesn't mail that well, it will have to be delivered in person. I should have your address anyway, just so I can find you next time I head south.

Ahh, Da Yoopers. Dr. Demento plays that song every year on his hunting season show.

Nice, but wheres the deck mounted winch to pull your full beer cooler up? Then again I guess every Deer Camp has a FNG to do the grunt work.
