A three acre pond in North Florida. I did not stock these they are just there. I see them near shore & they feed on pellets along with BG. A more torpedo shaped fish than a LMB. Ranging from 2 to 8". A pretty gray color with redish dorsal & tail fin. Also a dark lateral line. The tail fin is a very deep V shaped. They are twice as fast & skitish as a BG.

What are they? I have looked but I have not seen a photo that looks like them.

Maybe a species of shiner, but without a picture I have no idea.

a shiner comes to mind. maybe a golden, redside, or yellowfin shiner. it would be really helpful to have a picture of one.

There are way too many species of small types of fish to try to get a good name from just a casual description. Even using a picture identification can be risky for the individuals of minnows, shiners, chubs, dace, and darters etc.
