Need a recommendation for a contractor in northern illinois who can help / advise on a small (1.75 acre) pond. It's basically a drainage pond, but it's in the lowest spot in the surrounding area and so it's always got lots of water. Over the last few years, water level has only fluctuated about 1-2 feet max. Dam runs the long side of pond and is in decent shape - no leaks - but it's gotten overgrown with trees and bushes (like cotton wood, willow, buck thorn). And over time the pond's gathered runoff soils, etc. I'm removing the trees, bushes, etc., but need an expert who could recommend and then perform some shore work, possibly digging a deep spot (deepest now is 10 feet), and the like. It's a nice pond, but needs some updating/restoration/tlc I can't give it on my own. So looking for somebody who can help up here.

Hey philbock,
If you can provide a more accurate regional location, it might help "zero in" assistance...ie; northwest, north-central, northeast.
Also, I had excellent success and cooperation working with a few different NRCS offices in Illinois. One of them was located in the Mercer County area. Anyway, my point is that you would be well advised to reach out to the NRCS office in the county where the work will be performed. They will have a listing of contractors.
Also, as work proceeds, please begin a thread and allow us to follow along as work progresses. Every pond is like a snowflake. We never see the same winter scene twice.

Thanks for the response. Pond is in Lake County, which is north east corner of the state.

Sorry, but I have no experience in the hoity-toity northeast section of Illinois. ;\) \:\)
I still say that you should check into the NRCS office serving Lake County

You can also check with local equipment dealers. They will be able to get you a list of people that own dozers.
