.. to all you Dads out there, and a special double happy day to all the Grandpas.
I got 3 neat books, a dress Barlow knife, and 2 1/2 hours of fishing time last night. My Dad's getting a mess of BG fillets.
How did y'all make out?

My 2 boys (21.5 & 19) are on a short vacation in FL with their mother. Got a nice card and a phone call & email. Might not sound like much, but their present to me is the fact that they are absolutely great kids, of whom I am extremely proud. I am truly blessed.
Just do it...

I got a "HFD" call from #1 son, and in person from the other 2. I can't think of a better gift, except maybe BBQ ribs... which I will be giving to myself.
Happy FD to everyone!

Heybud - I feel for you. My parents are in their early 80's. I try hard to appreciate what I still have. I'm sure your Dad will live on inside you forever.
I had a great day. I had to get up at 6am BUT I went to a horse show with my youngest daughter. She did great. Unfortunately I only got 3rd in the Father/Daughter lead-line class (got 2nd last year). I had no clue what I was doing but it was fun. Then I went to the pond with my older daughter. She patiently waited an hour for me to install a new dock ladder then we swam in the pond for more than an hour. Great day. Right now I'm waiting for a special dinner my wife is making. Life is grand.
Happy Father's Day to all.

I got to go to my pond yesterday along with my brother (it's our property). We got a several smaller LMB, a small crappie, a few yellow perch, a walleye, and a small smallie. We did see a few large SMB but they just were not eating. We saw a few schools of HSB but couldn't get any to bite (by this time it was raining hard and we were out on the boat). I think one of the problems is that my caretaker dude bought sinking feed, so we'd see the HSB for a few seconds, then they'd submerge going after the feed.
Today was a family thing with my dad & mom, mother-in-law, my brother and his family, and my wife and kids.
Good times. Hope all the same for you nerds out there.

A nice fishing trip with my son to one of the few natural lakes in eastern SD with centrachids -- bluegill, black crappie, and largemouth bass.

Church in the morning, to the lake for the afternoon. Grilled Steaks with my family and fed the fish the rest of the time. Just watched 'em today! We have a dock called the VIP dock. Abslolutely no fishing from that dock is allowed unless you are a VIP that I need to impress. Anyhow it is the most amazing place to view trophy gamefish! Everyday more and more fish hang out there waiting for someone to come down and feed 'em. I have some minnow traps by the dock that always keep us supplied with tons of small fish to feed to the bass, walleye and perch. They will eat right out of your hand.
After getting home and getting everyone to bed, I have to get some major work done! We are headed to Iowa early monday to try and save some friends houses and farms from the mighty mississippi.

I am blessed...I was able to have lunch with both my dad and grandfather on Father's Day. My wife just lost her grandfather, so it really hit home for me how lucky I am to have so many memories with mine.

My wife got me a new rod and reel; the Bass pro shops extreeme baitcaster combo. I've only used it once (for about 10 minutes) but it seems realy smooth. Can't wait to catch a fish on it.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
