The man could be crude but he sure was funny. I liked his sarcastic humor the best. One of my favorites went something like, "All I know about God is he always wants money and wants to punish us."  Or when he said, "The words military intelligence" are an oxymoron. JICUM I respect our men and women in uniform and served myself and my family on my dad side served all the way back to the revolutionary war, but for those of us that served you have to admit some of those in the upper ranks... well you know... 
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

One of my signature lines used to be "just because you got the monkey off your back doesn't mean the circus has left town" was supposedly originated by George Carlin. Like him or hate him, he was an original. He didn't commit the sin of being boring.

Amen, I served 20 years and not a year went by I didn't scratch my head over military logic LOL. I got hooked on George Carlin as a kid with my dad. Loved his books and have a calendar of his saying on my desk. I'm really going to miss his twist on the everyday things we all miss seeing around us. RIP George

I have a couple of his albums (those round black vinyl things that have sound in them). Some cold winter evening, I am going to cue them up, have listen and remember.....

Dwight, Do you realize there are kids that are growing up today that don't even know what a vinyl record is or have ever seen one? Man that makes me feel old!

A couple of years ago my grandson, then 16, sent me a recording of this funny guy he found and wanted to know if I had ever heard of him.
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day."
1/4 & 3/4 acre ponds. A thousand miles from no where and there is no place I want to be...

Cecil, Time and technology marches on. My mother is 86 and the other day said, "Enjoy your youth, Dwight, I know I am"! Do you feel younger now?

I tell my parents when they complain about their age that in 10 years they'd be happy to be the age they are now so enjoy it. I used to laugh at people that said the years go by faster and faster as you get older. Now I know it's true!
