You forgot to put in the rocks to make it sink.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Make sure you do your research Dwight which means don't try something someone else has not done. Wouldn't want you to bare all on this site! BTW the pier is in with two floats this time. I've got a buglight hanging off one of the posts to bring in the phototactic perch fry and will install the belt feeder tonight. Also need to put together a feeding ring for windy nights.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Underwater test is underway. The light is currently about 1 foot off the bottom. I still need to decide exactly where I want to locate it. After it has been in place for a couple days, I will setup my underwater video recorder and see what is going on down there. Though the light appears green in the photo, that is a function of the camera. To the human eye it is white light. To the fish eye, who knows?

Dwight...
Great idea. My Pops has a place on the coast and he spent $200 on an underwater light setup. He would love something like this and Father's Day is coming up. Can I get you to walk me through the assembly process?

Why re-invent the wheel accept it is fun to make something yourself?
There are kits with a transformer to bring the voltage down to 12v from 120v for safety and a 20 watt light for around $75.

ezylman, I will type something up for you. It is hectic around here, so it may be a couple days. Cary Martin, It is the old story of "I had this stuff lying around and". I did buy the bulb and socket. My underwater light is a 26 watt fluorescent, 100 watt incandescent equivalent. It is on the GFCI circuit that my Kasco Circulator runs on in the winter, so I am not unfamiliar with 120VAC under water. I like building stuff!

Dwight,
I'm the same way...that is why I love what I do...build custom aeration systems.
I can picture it now as you lowered the light in and plugged it in..."COOL, HEHEHE"

COOL, Bremer. Much sturdier than you can buy. You also had a caulking sized tube of silicone lying around. Ha. That is guaranteed to be water proof, vs. water 'resistant'.

burgermeister, You also had a caulking sized tube of silicone lying around. I always have 2 or 3 caulking sized tubes of silicon on hand, doesn't everyone?

Incidently, last nite when reaching for a pickled sausage to chase my MGD with, I discovered a 1/2 gal. jar with only a coupla picked pigs feet left. Of course, CFL, no problem. I'm in business.
