Hey!

I haven't been on in a LONG time, and im back, well educated, and have plans. Some of you may have read my post some months back about a 10x10x10 pond. Well, that has been scratched of the list, and my friend and I are planning a new pond. We are planning a 32x38x10 pond for a bit of fishing. We decided to go the long way and not to use liner. We are installing 2 pond pumps to keep the pond water flowing and aerated. My friend (being a fishing guru) has told me that 11 rainbow trout, 20 BG, and about 2000 GS will suffice. We are bringing in 2 Bobcats (excavators) to help with the digging. We are aware of where the pipes and electrical lines are, and our digging is well away from them. Here in Canada, our winters are bitter cold or mild, and our summers are scorching hot or nice and warm, so we planned a bowl-shapped pond with some bulrushes, cattails, lillies, and the aeration and depth should keep the fish from getting too hot. Well, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome back James. Do you have any specific questions that the experts can answer for ya?

Well, I was just wondering if this was a good setup, and if there is anything I should change. I think it sounds pretty fulproof, but I just wanted to find out from the experts.

Single-sex BG, or breeders? If the latter, it shouldn't be too hard to manually thin their numbers by trapping, etc. in a small pond. The trout should help with that when the BG are more torpid in the Winter, I would think.
