1. I had 4 mallards playing hanky-panky at my new pond last night. \:\)

2. Ain't BG just the greatest species of fish, ever? Bass afishianados need not reply.

3. Proof that fishing has been good and I've been too busy for any other recreation: Geese are nesting on top of the backstop at my shooting range in between my ponds. \:o

No response. However, I'm catching some awfully big forage on 1/32 oz. jigs.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

1. It's not polite to watch.

2. BG are merely the cattle of fish. The magnificant GSF is of course the pinnacle of fisholution.

3. You have a shooting range? Dang, I need more fun stuff at my pond.

I missed that. Theo, that's kinda kinky.

My 3 cousins Lefty, Lefty, & Lefty are coming over today. Note to self: this year I've got to tell them about the gators in my pond.

Note to a few of the distant cousins on the wife's side (Larry the cable guy types) :

4 wheelers and trees don't mix well

Boats are not meant to be pulled by 4 wheelers (aka boat skiing)(large submerged rocks and boats pulled by 4 wheelers do not mix well)

"Watch this" is a poor substitute for common sense

Not a good idea to bushhog the back of the dam (with 3 inch trees) going straight down slope

Even high powered bullets will bounce off large rocks (don't shoot that big flat faced rock) - so much for that car window.

Ewest, what was the outcome? : Not a good idea to bushhog the back of the dam (with 3 inch trees) going straight down slope.

Theo,
1) If your mallards are 3 male to 1 female, I fear duck rape. 2) Ain't BG just the greatest species of fish. lol...I'm trying to train them stack up motionless on bottom in the winter for easy predator meals, hopefully my tilapia will teach them \:D

3)if you visit the range, you may score a gooseye \:\)

I wonder if those were our four mallards from last year.

Early last May, four mallard drakes took up residence on our pond. One left about a week after arriving. A second one stayed until mid-summer. The third and fourth stayed until late September.

We never saw a lady mallard at the pond all summer.

We didn't ask. They didn't tell.

Eastland - the results. One broken/destroyed bushhog , one upside down tractor, one , no make that 2 BIG ruts in the dam , a few smashed trees due to a tractor pretending to be a bowling ball and one white faced , wide eyed scraped up cousin/driver. He can thank Meadowlark he is alive as the seat belts were added upon his suggestion. A running bushhog that is flipped up in the air running and loose from the tractor is a scary sight. \:o
