I was reading on the forum about grass carp. Here's a beauty I caught a few years back at Lake Pohoja, extreme NW Iowa.
Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.

Wow! That really is an impressive fish. Were you angling for carp, or other species?

Neat picture -- great fish. If anybody would like to fish for really big grass carp, we have a lake near me ( Warden Lake) that the DNR estimates has about 1200 very large grass carp. They were put in sometime in the 1960s. I believe that the largest taken out recently was more than 60lbs. Locals are encouraged to fish the lake for grass carp to reduce the population. Ken

One of my classes did an electrofishing survey on a lake that had some large grass carp.
It is pretty cool to seem them jump 4 feet out of the water when they get shocked.

NE Mason, Dwight,
I was casting a #8 Blk/Sil Shad Rap for bass. Snagged the amur in the tail. Took me 25 minutes to get it in, everytime it would get close to the boat, it would take off, tailing water all over the angler. Sorry about my big belly hanging out, I was planning on cradling it my arms for the picture, so I took my shirt off. It was too much fish to hold that way and it was not very happy to be out of the water so I just held it by it's gill plates. I am a six footer, so it must be about 50 inches, I thought it weighed about 50 lbs. No scale in the boat for that weight.
Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.
