Many years ago I had one of those "cats" get trapped in my garage. I guess it snuck in while we had the door up.

Talk about "not house broken." As retribution for spending the night in my garage, the miserable critter somehow found a way to develop diarrhea, and it sprayed my floor, walls, and doors with a potion that would gag a vulture.

"Not very friendly" is an understatement. They don't always play "possum." The one in my garage hissed, had a low growl, showed me all of his teeth, and was extremely hyperactive. A good part of my garage walls and doors had nasty scratch marks up to about 18 inches above the floor. When I got my wits about me, I opened the door, and he/she (how did they know what sex??) waddled out at least at the speed of sound.

davatsa, I think you may have fallen victim to an internet prank. This style of hoax is very common.:)

Even if it's a prank, it's a darned funny one!

I certainly HOPE they weren't being serious.

I was cooking outside at the Lazy W the other night and one came strolling by headed for my chicken coop. I had to cap him before he got there. He was old and ugly. Rest his soul.

"When City Folk move to the Country".... jeez I could fill a volume of books of dumb things city folk do in the country just based upon my own adventures (and I haven't even been able to move to the country yet.)

Most uncomfortable (for me) and humorous (for my neighbor) to date had to be when I decided to prune back the poison oak. No I didn't know it was poison oak at the time. Yes even during it's winter dormancy poison oak is just as potent.

Also becareful when cutting a barbwire fence. Once the fence is cut the wire may recoil and act like a flying chainsaw. Fortunately it only caught in a loose fitting shirt and only my wife was watching.

We have two opossums that think they are cats. They eat cat food out of outside cat feeder even during the middle of the day. Apparently food trumps the displeasure of bright light for them.

When the opossums eat the cats back off as they can't stand the ugliness of their pointy snoot and rat tail.

This beautiful and tasty species of shore bird, eagerly sought after by bird lover's and bird eaters alike, has recently been discovered living in secret colonies alongside Northern California lakes and ponds such as your own. Perhaps you should consider hunting them.
