I was extremely fortunate to grow up right near here. My mother's family homestead was just off the river. Brule River Fishing Here is a link to a few pictures of this year's opener: Brule River Photos My childhood and teenage fishing mentor, who was also one of my paternal grandfather's best friends, joked with me as a kid that his dream was to die while fishing in the Brule. While I was in the Navy, I got a call that his dream came true. His "girlfriend" Lena found him floating just downstream when he died of an apparent heart attack at age 93. Ken
