I'm excited. Although it was 17 degrees this morning when I left for work, it is still in the low 60s at nearly 8:00 PM. All the frost is finally out of the ground -- the driveway isn't mushy anymore.

I again took a small amount of feed down to the pond at dusk tonight. The trout went absolutely crazy. I've had one silly bass living under the dock for at least three years, and he loves pellets (he also gets caught weekly during the summer). He was out gobbling a few pellets this evening for the first time this year. More big bluegill were up attempting to lethargically grab pellets before the trout got them.

The weathermen finally got it right...it's officially 95 right now in SATX.

Perfect day for fishing. I promised my wife I'd see Cirque du Soleil with the inlaws tomorrow, but I'm headed to the ponds after that!

Well my trout pond is almost ice free. The ice was rotten so I cranked up the diffuser and it really did a number on the ice. Saw two 3 1/2 pound browns chasing each other and I got plenty of brooks and browns to feed in the evening. I hydrated the 5D06 to make it easier for them to digest in the cold water.

Other ponds are ice covered with open edges but absolutely not safe to walk on. If one managed to get out to the thicker ice you'd still go through.

All right you guys! This is no longer humorous!

 Quote:
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Somerset County for Friday night to Saturday. Light snow will begin late on Friday night and become moderate to heavy after midnight. The snow will quickly end on Saturday morning, but not before leaving several inches in its wake.

The heaviest snow will fall in the Allegheny Mountains, and the lightest accumulations will be east of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Frederick County.

I hope Sunil wasn't planning on making it to his pond this weekend.

It was almost 70 much earlier today. I guess the grandkids will now be trying to find their Easter eggs under the snow!

Ken

P.S. The pond is just inches from going over the emergency overflow.

Join the club Ken. I had complete iceout yesterday and will probably be in a winter wonderful sometime tomorrow.

Now that my ponds are open I've run my favorite heron off three times. I told him I have a permit now to shoot him but he just laughs at me as he flies off.

Home Sweet Home!

These are pictures from this time last year -- as I recall. We were just about to head off to the PB conference.

With the exception of the trees, that kinda reminds me of Amarillo on a nice Spring day.

Ken, what is that thing on the ground in the 2nd picture?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Sorry to hear that. That's what you get for living in Minnesota. \:D

I'm sure the summers are nice - all two weeks of it. \:D
