Went to the lake today to check out how the overflows and etc. did with a 5+" rain we recently had. Most did pretty well. One (which had planned and already knew I would have to put in pipes didn't do too well; but...). Anyway...

The wind was pretty strong creating some big waves and I noticed something white bobbing next to shore in the corner. I retrieved it. It was part of a seine. I've never seined the pond. Do you think someone may be sneaking in to my pond? \:\(

Actually, that was a theoretical question. My real one is Does anyone have recommendations of some good deer trail type cameras I can easily mount into wood duck type boxes or that may already come like that?

I don't think I'd recommend any of the cameras I have. I have a Moultry 4 megapixel digital trail cam that cost about $120 at Gander Mountain. My main complaint is that it goes to sleep to conserve battery life -- which is great. The batteries last at least a month. It takes six D-cells or an external 12 volt battery. But, it takes several seconds to wake up from its sleep, frequently missing whatever it was supposed to take a picture of.

I also have a couple of older 35 mm Stealth Cams that were about $65 each. They work great, but they really eat batteries. Each camera takes eight AA batteries, and they only last about a week.

Lastly, here is a a link to a thread I started last year regarding my issues with poachers: Bummed about poachers
Maybe there will be something in it that could be of assistance to you.

You have my condolences.

Good luck,
Ken

Man! Now I'm pissed for the weekend.

Rangersedge,

I sure hope you get this resolved. I thank my lucky stars I live right next to my ponds.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

You need a camera with a quick "trigger" that will take a pic of something walking. Cuddeback cameras are known to be one (if not the fastest)faster cameras made. The only problem is, if tresspassers are there at night and see the flash they will likey take a $300-$400 camera. You can buy some that are infra red but and they will run about $500 give or take. Hope this helps. Cuddebacks are supposed to be the best though.

Go to http://www.texashuntingforum.com. Then to the Hunting Gear section. Lots of game cam discussions there. You will have to dig a little but they discuss all of them.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
