Okay, folks...the 2008 Pond Boss conference dates are set. July 11 & 12, in Arlington, Texas, at the Arlington Convention Center...same venue as last time.
This deserves some explanation. It took me several weeks to raise the hood and analyze last year's conference. By then, I had missed the best March dates. The only dates in March were in the middle of the week. Who wants to come on a Wednesday and Thursday? Not many. Plus, all the meeting rooms were already booked.
As we looked at their calendar, there were some September dates, one in August (without the meeting rooms) and then nothing except the July dates. So, we took those dates.
Next, we work on the details of negotiating with the hotel(s), getting organized and planning the program.
So, mark your calendars and plan those family vacations around next summer's Pond Boss Conference and Expo.

Good news, Bob. July may work better than March. Folks are getting the ponds ready in spring. July, too hot to fish, to hot for golf...you get the picture. The Convention Center does have AC, right?

Will Arlington be able to "ramp up" on their beer inventories prior to Sunil getting to town? Better let them know now! \:\)

My wife said I didn't even TRY to get the convention moved to Ohio, but she will consider going to TX with me anyway.

What? And leave spawn of Gallus to mind the new pond?
On the upside, you will now be able to drive. The Madden bus should be available during the off-season, too. You're gonna feel like a third wheel when Mrs Gallus and Otto start talkin' heavy equipment.

Hey Overton! Get ready. You're not going home with any fish this time.

Bob no explanation neccesary. Heck I thought you might have picked the best time period not what was leftover. We do not deliver fish then nor do we do much electrofishing work. That is a great time, even in March we sart getting in full swing. Looking forward to it.

Ok guys the PB owners have set the time and place and again gone out on a limb taking the risk that this event will support its self. It is now our turn to try to help get as many people who can attend , to do so. Also to let the vendors know we thank them for their support and for being there. We will have a moderators booth again (enlarged for 6 plus George) for all to stop by and look at the slide show and ask questions. Also a few freebies. Time to start the process of thinking about PB Conv. II.

Not only am I bummed about poachers in my pond, now I'm bummed about the dates for the next PB convention. March was perfect. Most of February or April would have been equally good. January or May would have been acceptable. The week after July 4th is worse than the week between Christmas and New Years.

Unless Julius Caesar and Pope Gregory get together to rework a new calendar, my bride and I are not going to be able to make a July date, nor one in June or August.

Anybody want to get together this fall, winter, or spring for breakfast or dinner somewhere in Ohio, PA, or the WV Northern Panhandle?? Maybe we could all bring a fish and a gallon of water for Theo's new pond, and then tell a fish li ... story. If we did get together, maybe we could do something that would somehow benefit the convention.

Ken

I'm planning on being there again! I think a gentleman by the name of Heath Davis will be coming with me. Do you remember talking to him Bob?

What can be more important than a Pond Boss Convention?

Bumpty Bump for the 2008 Convention thread.

Are most folks staying at the Sheraton Arlington?

Who's going for sure?

Just how hot is Texas in July?? Anything like California with potential temperatures north of 100?

Sunil - is there enough Captian Morgan rum on hand or should I special order a delivery to Arlington?

Do I have to wear underwear in Texas or can I just go California Commando?

Questions folks, I have convention questions!?!?

Did you mean repelled with a sling or propelled with a sling. This is all getting very confusing.

Oh and I just spoke with Kathy at the Pond Boss World headquarters and she said they have been getting a lot of confirmations since the first of the year. So it looks like it is gonna be a great event!

Thursday seems to bethe first day of the event. Meet in the bar of the Sheraton from about 3:00 on and on and on and.....

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
