Hello, This is my first time to post on this site, but have been an avid reader for a couple of years while trying to develop my lake. You all have been a great help and it is fianally in.....We have been drought stricken in middle Tennessee but fially got some water a couple of weeks after I put the lake in. It filled up about 5 feet and we were excited. About 2 weeks later, it was about 5". We found several drain holes and administered benonite based on information I read on this site (THANKS). It now seems to be holding. You can see a picture of one of the holes @ bass lake http://www.trophybasslake.com[/color] and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. My question is; Will this last or might it be temporary and drain later when the presuure increases. I'm reluctant to add fish again. THANKS!!!

Really hard to say whether it will leak again. It kinda depends on just how good the fix is. If the leak reoccurs, you might want to cover the bentonite with some firmly packed clay. It is also possible to find a sand seam in the sides. This can be nail biter time.

Even if you do have the holes repaired, you can expect the water level to vary some as it wicks back into the very dry banks. The dry banks act like a sponge for awhile. Don't get too excited about that.

Nice looking web site. How big will the water hole be at full pool?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thank you! It will be about 14 acres when full. I am certainly a novice at this but have done quite a bit of research. Any and ALL advice would be appreciated!

Beano my small acre pond has those drain holes. I have tried benonite with no luck. It seems the more I plug holes the more new ones pop up. Let me know how yours turns out, maybe I can learn a few things. I hope you have great luck and your web site looks good.

Whoa...Beano, baby...what a cool project!
I love the website, but the aerial pics tell it like it is. If you get 14 ac by only moving 35K cu yards, you are in pond-buildin' paradise. How much of the pond basin required scraping and sculpting?
