I have a problem ? with my pressure on the aerator. The vendor says to keep the pressure under 10 psi. When I install a new gauge it starts up around seven pounds and then grows to 12-15 lbs over several weeks and then destroys the gauge (sticks at a high level). Someone suggested I had kinks in the line(s) but I think that would be an immediate problem. Compressor doesn't sound any different, so I am at a loss. Any thoughts? Valves on manifold are wide open to diffusers (3).

Contact the vendor you bought your system from. You probably have a defective gauge. Your gauge should be able to take all the pressure your compressor can make, unless you're using something non-typical. This is necessary for "flexing" the membrane diffusers to clean them periodically. You should also check what your blow off valve is set to as it should be relieving excess pressure before reaching max pressure on the compressor.

It is possible that your diffusers are being fowled by the precipitation of dissolved metals. We have experienced severe plating and subsequent fowling of diffusers with pond water that has high levels of iron and or manganese. The good news is that these metals will not be so prevalent in your water. The bad news is that it may cause a significant maintenance issue. I recommend checking you diffusers for fowling. If there is a lot of precipitate on the diffusers, get a water test done to check your levels of dissolved metals. If this is the case, you may need to clean your diffusers frequently with a brillo pad or simply switch to a surface aerator.

It could be a kink.As the air goes trough a resriction it will get hot and the kink get worse, then airflow stops and tension opens the kink after cooling.?What kind of airline are you using?
