I've raised a bunch of Tilapia....probably way more than I need (or want to feed). I'm a first year Tilapia grower and would like to know how big they need to be to make a usable fillet. I've got some big brood fish and lots of 8"-10" YOY. The smaller ones seem fairly broad across the back (meaty).
Are there any special techniques or considerations (like hidden bones or such) that greenhorn Tilpia cleaners need to know about? I'm experienced at cleaning LMB and CC but haven't put the knife to a Tilapia yet. Can some of you experienced Tilapia raisers shed some light on the subject? Thanks
Be careful what you wish for...

Finned Feedlot, sorry about slow response on tilapia for table fare. I do recall one post by Meadowlark that his tilapia had a strong algae taste. They are very good and inexpensive from the SeaFood market, and you don't have to clean them...
