I will have a new pond that will fill with water within the next year this hole is 24 ft deep.and is going to be about 1 1/2 acres of coverage

I would like to add Walleye knowing they will not reproduce. what other fish do you believe i should add? and how many ?

at what depth should I lay the cement culverts at for the fat head minnows to lay there eggs to the top side

I am adding rip rap in at the 7 foot level Just in case the spring comes back to life.

any other suggestion a dumb ole city boy should be asking

What other fish do you like to catch or eat? You could go with just walleye and forage for them (say minnows and shiners), but the forage role could easily be filled with species that are great to catch and eat in the own right (e.g. YP). You could also stock another predator with the walleyes - reproducing or sterile (SMB, HSB).

IIRC FHM spawn near the surface; I would place there spawning structures in the top 2-3 feet.

mtpockie, there's a standard list of other questions to help everyone give you advise.

What do you want from your lake? Trophy fishing? Occassional fishing with your kids or grandkids? What other types of fish do you like? How much time, effort and money do you want to spend on your lake? Is there anything else you want from you lake such as landscaping, wildlife, boating etc.?

The more you can tell us about how you want to use your lake, the more we can help you.

What i would like is everything from fishing with the kids, to a lunker every so often. My wife loves Walleye, this is the most important type of fish in this pond

Money- willing to spend some for a quailty pond, Until the wife yells NO MORE \:\) I like bluegill, Bass, catfish, and crappie but i understand that crappie can over run a pond is this true?

I am putting in Quail/ Pheasant habitat Trees/ food plots/cover/downed trees on the fence rows since we have several coveys of quail in the neighborhood. that i plan to hunt and work my dogs. on this 20 acres.

Yes in several years we will build a house on the pond.
