Crikeys, Gator...that is nothing short of spectacular! You oughta know my next series of questions; give us some spec's and history. This event requires some documentation and summary background.
Congrats, my friend; she's a beaut!

Congrats, Dan.

When is the first BBQ?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

ewest,

Sneaky Pete has plenty of cursing room now!

bz,

I have 156 acres.

Brettski,

It’s a l-o-n-g story, (a lot has been told on PB) but the basic story is that I bought this property 2 years ago. The previous owner had not been to the property in 6 years. All the ponds were in horrible disrepair. The big lake was drained down due to a broken standpipe. The swamp had basically grown back in where the lake once was...against my wife’s better judgment and virtually no pond mamangement experience, I bought the land, spent 3x more $ than I originally told my wife it would cost for repairs (hey I needed that pier)and the rest is history.

Buying the property with an empty lake presented a lot of risk. I was scared to death! But what a relief to see it full, I had begun to wonder if I had purchased a dry hole...PB has had a great deal of influence on my success and gave me the confidence to take on the project to begin with. Thanks PB members!

I kept a journal of some of the issues/problems/decisions...etc. and after seeing Yours/Eddies and other stories, I suggest we should find a way to publish the full stories for everyone to learn and enjoy. There is a $$$ of learning in these stories. Maybe publish these in the magazine or a special section on the Web? Just a thought.

Thanks,

Gator

Gator,

Very impressive!!! Congratulations.

It looks like your water is similar to mine. Will it clear up on it's own? Will you do something to it?

Thanks for the pictures,
Eddie

Congratulations, and if you achieve nothing else in this life, you've achieved one great accomplishment! Course that's coming from a fellow pondmeister.

BM, Robinson and Theo,

Thanks very much. I am very relieved! Was beginning to think I had put a large sum of $ into a dry hole! Anyone with a mathematics degree – I receive approx 1’ of rise for every 1” of runoff rain. I don’t know how much water that is…but it is a bunch!

I said in another post that it was like marring off your kids, on second thought - it is more like giving birth. This is just the beginning!

Congratulations! Really looking good out there. I remember that pic you posted a while back of basically nothing but a big puddle beneath your pier. Looks a little different now \:D

congratulations gator,

couple questions: how will it do over the summer? are you expecting it to maintain full pool?

what kind of fishin hole do you want?

Congratulations Alligator! I'm happy for you. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone,

D.I.E.D., Im not sure how much mine will rise and fall - the last 2 years have been very abnormal indeed!

Im looking for a BG/LMB/CC fishing lake. Not really looking for trophys, just good fishing. A gator here and there is ok too.

: )

Gator,

Great show! You've got the water now. You'll also soon have the fishing you are after. Seems like just yesterday you were posting and asking about through-the-dam pipes. Time flies! Congrats!

Congrats Gator looks wonderful.

Eddie-I recently took sample from new pond and took awhile but did clear on its own. So as Gator says wait and see.

Gator-when are you going to stock it? What with? and What was in there from the 2 years of waiting?

I had CNBG, LMB and CC in it last year, I know that the LMB survived...not sure how the others fared. The drought was pretty hard on everything.

Congratulations Gator, not only for your pond success, but for sending us enough rain for near full ponds. \:D

Just received an email from our DIL in N.E. Texas, reporting pond water level is within a foot of the siphon spillway.
Another foot and we will flush excess nutrients from pond – will be first time in more than 4 drought years.

We learned a good lesson on the importance of good water quality and aeration system, resulting in no apparent loss of any LMB, CNBG, or HSB.
