I can't believe that there are already ducks and geese showing up on my pond. Last week Blue Wing Teal showed up and have been here since and one day I had a pair of Snow Geese. I can't believe it since it is still over 100 degrees here. Are these just locals coming to any water they can find or are others in the south seeing the same thing?

I'll be up at my place near Bonham/Paris on Sunday and let you know. They showed up about October last year...

The cold fronts up north have caused an early migration for teal.

I had about 20 Canadian Geese arrive at my place last weekend. Dang those are messy critters!

Also had teal this past weekend at my place in central Texas. Hopefully will be plentiful this year along with other species of duck.

Around 200 showed up at my place this weekend. They are about 3 weeks early in arriving to West Central MO.

The blue wing teal are right on schedule, Texas Teal Season runs Sept. 9-24. It does seem a little early for the snow geese. The blue wing won't stick around very long. They are always the first to migrate and winter down in Mexico. The much smaller green wing will follow with the big ducks and stay in Texas til spring.
