Can someone give me an idea of what pond dimensions I could have if a dozer operator moved 2500 cubic yards of dirt?

First, assume the "hole" averaged 5 foot deep and was rectangular.

What if it were sloped from 3 to 6 foot and fairly uniform in shape? Is that too difficult to calculate?

Are there any other possibilities for a nice functional bass pond working with these numbers?

Bottom line is, I gotta move 2500 cubic yards of dirt for a driveway and houspad.

I'd like to know what are the potential sizes and shapes for a pond based on these numbers.

Hi Ronnie,

In your web browser, type in "cube root 2500" and google returns 13.5 yards on a side. The hole is ~67,000 cubic feet, or approximately a 40.5'x40.5'x40.5' deep hole.

It's easy to just shallow up the hole now. I think you will end up with something like 116x116x5' feet deep.

The 116' sides can be extended about 2.5'
on each end giving roughly 121 feet.
when the sloping is considered. the sides
can be considered as 4 rt triangular solids
or 1/2 of 4 rectangular solids of 5 * 5 * 116.
(assuming 1:1 sloping) and ignoring corners.
This gives :
(121 * 121)/43560 ~.344 acres

Thanks for the info. I can see the formula now for cubic yards / feet.

How do you manipulate the numbers to come up with the dimensions resembling the pond?

Did you just start with round numbers and multiply them to get close and then start moving from there?

I guess I'm just too dumb to figure it out.
