It’s that time of year again and in Kansas it’s looking like a ruff one already. For the last week or so it’s been in the mid to upper 90s and South winds @15-20 and the long term forecast is saying more of the same and no rain. I’ve been pumping 28,000 gallons of well water into my ¾ acre pond everyday and it appears the evaporation rate is about the same because the pond is staying at the same level. I got a feeling my local electric company is going to love me this summer, I also have two other wells that run 12 hours a day keeping the lawn alive and if you look a the electric meter that little wheel inside is doing 50 mph LOL….seriously it does look like it’s going to be a hot dry one this year.

Haus,
Same here in northern Indiana. We may get a shot at some rain today but it's not guaranteed. Sure glad I'm not a corn or bean farmer!
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

It's been the same here. Mid to upper 90's with winds about 12-15mph. Evaporation hitting hard. Water level down about 5 inches in the last month. Hope we get some relief soon.

The rain seems to be moving everywhere around me but here. I have lost 15 inches in 2 months. I am now thinking of driving a new well next to the pond. This is by FAR the lowest I have seen my pond since I moved here 4 years ago.
Cecil, other than your trout pond what is your pond level looking like?
Just another 1 acre hole in the ground...........with fish !!!

Aaron,
I don't really have to worry. My trout pond which gets well flow 24/7 overflows underground into my bass pond which is at a lower level. My other two ponds are above my trout pond so if I wanted to I can run well water into them via underground gate valves. However this time of year I just use a small sump pump to top them off from the trout pond as I don't want to drop temps too drastically from the well into one of the ponds that has bluegills. It would also mean I would have to lower flow or cut flow to the trout pond which I don't want to do.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
