Q1-
I just recently found out that I have catfish in my pond. When he comes out of the water to eat food on the surface, you can see a red and swelly mark on his lip. I think it Is this from being cought before, would you think so?

Q2-
I have been feeding them catfood and they like that...but is it healthy (protein)?? There are also brim and bass.....would they eat catfood too?

I'm not sure about the red mark but I've heard from this website that it is not a good idea to feed fish with dog food or catfood for health concerns. In my opinion, it is a simple process to go to a local farm supply store, tractor supply co., or southern states or similar store because they all sell fish food. I have noticed smaller fish will eat up all the fish food you can put out. Catfish and bream will run to the food but bass don't seem to like it too good. I guess they like live fish better. Hope this helps.

Yea...I'll try buying some food at the nearest store. These cat's are weird....they feed in 1/2-1 1/2 ft. of water. But they are pretty big for pond cat's....(5-6 lbs). Thanks for the help!!

I feed my catfish and bluegill floating catfish feed. I pay about 12.00 for a 5olb bag. Works great!!
