Just had to share this one. I went fishing Saturday for about an hour on our old 6 acre lake(pond) and in an hour I caught 6 fish. One went about 2 lbs the other four were healthy 1-1.5 lbs bass and the sixth and last one weighed I'm guessing 10 lbs. No I did not have a scale but i'm going from one I weighed recently that went 7 lbs and this one dwarfed her. I did not have a camera so you will have to believe the fishing story. The point is this lake when we bought 7 years ago had a ton of 10-12 inch bass and through culling them and help from a drought we have been catching good bass for the last couple of years but I wouldn't have guessed we had fish the size of what I caught on Saturday. This lake is actually performing better than our new lake that is 4 years old. I'll give an assist to Bob Lusk for his help. It is incredibly fun to have such an impact.

Congratulations, was this a northern large mouth or a Florida. I will be stocking 400 northern in a newly renovated pond this summer, my current goal is 8lb bass.

We have native bass in that lake no floridas. Our new lake has floridas but if we had it to do over again would probably not do the floridas again. We prefer aggressive dumber fish that don't learn what to avoid.

Go Buzz! Lakes are funny. Build one, stock it as it should be, then some lakes take on minds of their own. That's part of what makes this business so much fun. Try to adjust a lake, and sometimes it goes where it wants. Leave one alone, sometimes it goes where it wants. Stocking, tweaking, culling, fertilizing, feeding, droughts, floods...all part of nature's mixture molded by pond managers. Each lake is different. Buzz Tatom and his dad, Jim, are outstanding stewards of their land and water.

Bob, Dad says since I don't have proof of the fish that I'm lying but it is funny how much he has been fishing in the lower lake since I told him. I'm really curious to see how the upper lake is going to do after all the <12" bass we took out in the last year. I told him he needs to put up the fly rod and pull out my trusty Zebco.

Buzz...I believe you. Maybe he could tie a twelve inch worm on the end of his six-weight fly rod?
