Striper. As in striped bass. More likely it was hybrid striper, the cross between a white bass and a pure-strain striped bass. Often called "wiper."
By any name, it's one of my favorite freshwater species and huge fun to catch on light tackle. 'Grats on your new fishery.

4 years??????? What the heck kept you from wetting a hook for so long? I realize that being in FL makes my pond 'mature' faster but does it really take 4 years of work to be able to fish? If you did wait 4 years I bet thats the prettiest damn pond in Ohio. Toby
