Good Afternoon to all!

We built a 3/4 acre pond right behind my house in Missouri this Winter (1 hour south of St. Louis). It is 3/4 an acre and very deep (up to 30 feet in some spots). Looking for advice on what kind of aeration/diffuser to use. It's only 30 feet from our garage and we have solar panels so electricity is not an issue. Please advise what we should to get the most out of our water. Pond currently has 12-15 foot of water in it. Bout 1/3 full.

Thanks!

3/4 acre with 30 foot depths sounds like some steep banks! should be a beautiful body of water, I know nothing about aeration but hopefully some professionals on here will chime in with some helpful advice. What little I do read on here about aeration I would assume you wont want your diffuser down at the thirty ft depth but I'm not sure. Good Luck, commenting on here to bring it back to the top to catch the eye of someone with more knowledge of aeration.

All the really good ideas I've ever had came to me while I was milking a cow.

Welcome to PB, fellow Miserian.

Recommend you scroll down to the aeration section of the forum and read everything there.
Those posts may not answer your immediate question, but I'm betting that it will.

Good luck with the new pond. Sounds like it will be a good one.

Welcome bronco!

There are some aeration experts on the forum that can give you very specific advice.

Just to clarify as regards the electricity: Will you be running 12V (solar power) to your aeration compressor, or 120V AC? Or 220v? (They will want to know to recommend a system.)

The compressor will require a housing of some type to protect it from the elements, but it must also have a way to vent the generated heat. It will also create some noise.

Can you locate it inside the garage? Would it work to place it against the garage away from the deck or area where people hang out? (It is cheaper to run airline to your pond from the compressor, rather than electrical line to a compressor right beside the pond. But you need to choose the best location based on noise and convenience.)

Good luck with your new (and deep) pond! With your existing amount of water, I hope you have already started stocking your fathead minnows.

To address the noise issue brought up in the previous post, this is from Vertex. With is with their sound deadening material installed in the cabinet, without is just that - without it.
