They look like a BG or some other type young sunfish to me due to the vertical bars on the sides.

These things are realy fast \:D I tried catching one but they are way to quick for me.Maybe I can go down to Walmart and pick up a minnow trap or something. This is the best I can do for a pic for now.. \:\) Fast little swimmers.

I took the pic and enlarged it and still can't see one well enough to even make a WAG.

When were your fish stocked? The pictured fish look to be about 3in long. If so , in your location, it is to early for you to have yoy that size. That makes me lean toward a FH ,another minnow or one of last years yoy. At 3in they are small for last years yoy.

So they are much small than they look. Lets try another method. These are very small BG. Do yours look like these?

2in BG

3/4 in BG

3/4 in BG in observation jar

They look to be 3" long. Get yourself a No. 14 hook attached to 2 - 4 lb test line, and put a small piece of worm on hook. Catch one by hook and line, they will be easy to catch this way. One of several of us can send you a #14 or #16 hook if you don't have one. You can have the hook in 2 days by 1st class mail; just email us your address.

If the fish are BG or some sort of sunfish, they will easily go in a drab colored wire mesh fish trap that is baited with pieces of bread. Every pond owner should have a wire mesh fish trap. If they don't have one they are not a very good pond manager in my opinion. Wire mesh traps are the very best way to sample various species of small panfish and minnows.

It's hard to tell, They look like the second pic with stripes and not the color of the bg in the first pic. I've been seeing more and more every couple of days.Do you have any pics of bc minnows?
