Hey Guys,

A few photos here
https://imgur.com/gallery/KurbcQ1

I'll try to put up more pictures. Essentally when these dams were built a million years ago I think the contracts just put a bunch of dirt there and held it together with trees.

I'm not worried about a lack of clay due to the amount of rainfall florida gets and the spring that keeps it up, but it is deteriorating and in some spots that getting equipment will be hard.

Any ideas on how to fix a few lets say 20' sections? Maybe sandbags covered in a foot or so of topsoil and that soil getting bentonite? That's the best I can think of at the moment. Rip Rap on top of that of course.

Im going to ask a lot of questions, but only because I'm clueless

Do you have any info on the incidence of leakage?

Is that Spanish Moss? It looks like something from an episode of Scooby Doo.

Might check if the swamp land can be dug on. Lots of places have tight regulations on wetlands. I dont know anything about tht area but should be checked out before.

The people who say I can't do it can just sit the @^#% down and watch me. Friends call me Rusto I also subscribe to pond boss mag. http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=504716#Post504716

Yea its spainish moss, its everywhere.

As far as wetlands go- as long as I dont dry anything out by filling it in I can do what I want, especially since I'm going to keep animals on it. There;s a good spot for me to clear out muck, reinforce an existing dam on the big lake, to have what I think is ~1/2 acre private pond that will be filled by rain.

More pictures next week hopefully. Working on paperwork and making this mine smile

When I get more picures you can better see the one big "Problem Area" I've got.
