Greetings. Our 2 acre 20’ deep pond is under construction. Based on the difficulty I have had clearing other and old turbid ponds on our property, I’d like to start off right with this new tank. Our soil is has a lot of clay. Based on my research and testing, gypsum works but temporarily and we still lack visual depth of 18 inches. I would like to try adding gypsum stone but I cannot find any in Tarrant, Jack, Parker or Wise County Texas. Would limestone be the next best substitute? Or does anyone know where I can get gypsum stone? Thank you all in advance.

Have your soil tested. It is inexpensive and will give you a good baseline from which to make decisions (chemical analysis). If the pond is low in alkalinity or even average ag lime will be a plus for both the fish and visibility. Barley straw has worked in some cases but not in others. Limestone rock can work but only very slowly as it dissolves.
