I put in 2500lbs of ag lime in my pond yesterday. How long will it take for the lime to increase the alkalinity level in the water? Thanks.

At 1 1/3 acres the lime has already started to do its job in your pond. When you put it in did the water get cloudy with the initial dissolving of some into the water? If you have a specific question like -- my alka was 15ppm and I added 2500 lbs. - how long will it take to get to 20ppm ? , so that you can make a decision then add those facts. On our ponds there is a curve when alka. are charted with the highest point after liming about 12 mths. later followed by a slow fall. Each pond is different based on soils and water flow through.

Thanks for the reply. My akal. did go up from under 20 to over 40. Will check again to see if it increases.
